Benefits - Mentorship Program

Why is Sigma Alpha Delta sponsoring a Mentoring Program?

As students, we know that going through four years of college is not an easy road. How many times did we find ourselves overwhelmed by our classes, jobs/internships, extra-curricular activities and so on, unsure about what steps to take? We know the answer: "many, many times". Sometimes, all we need is some support and some guidance from someone who has "been there" before us, to help us manage our college experience and make the best out of it.

Sigma Alpha Delta designed the mentoring program to help the participants achieve their personal, educational and professional development goals through active participation in a relationship called a mentoring partnership.

We truly hope that you will find your mentoring experience valuable and rewarding! We look forward to working with you.

The Student-to-student mentoring program:

The student-to-student program will pair off lower-class students with upper-class students representing a variety of majors, student clubs/organizations and backgrounds. The mentoring program will provide an opportunity for new students (freshman/transfer) to connect with mentors who are knowledgeable about Baruch College (clubs and organizations, classes, professors, departments…). The program will help smooth out the transition for students who are apprehensive about the various challenges that await them upon their entrance to college or their coming to NYC/USA. To participate as a mentor or mentee download the forms below and submit completed applications to sigmamentor@gmail.com or drop them off in our mailbox at the office of student life.

The Professional-to-student mentoring program:

This program will fundamentally follow the same course of action as the student-to-student program; college students will be paired off with professionals, based on their educational background, interest and career goals. The mentor would act as an advocate, friend and role model in order to provide some guidance to their mentee about how to prepare for life after
college.

Both programs will go according to the development objectives agreed to by both the mentor and mentee. More information about the programs is provided in the remainder of this booklet. To participate as a mentor or mentee download the forms below and submit completed applications to sigmamentor@gmail.com or drop them off in our mailbox at the office of student life.
